I think that if someone were to ask me what my all-time favorite song in the world is, I would have to answer that it is “The Impossible Dream” from the musical “Man of LaMancha.” I can remember when I was a pre-teenager my school was taken to a field trip to a theater in the round to see that as a live performance. I’ve seen it a couple more times as live performances, and seen the movie several times as well. At one point in time I had the sound track on an LP, but I don’t have any LPs any more – my ex got all of them as part of the divorce settlement. Every time I hear that song I get goosebumps. What is YOUR goosebumpy favorite song?
How many times will there be a movie where aliens take over the world? 100? 200? 300? I mean, this number might go as high as 1 million by the time the human race is through making movies. That said, it will be very difficult for any alien movie to top Independence Day. This movie might have been released in 1997, but I just watched it for the first time on Best Choice TV three days ago. And let me tell you something, it’s awesome!
What makes this movie so awesome? I think it’s more the acting than the concept. I mean, think about it. If Ricky Schroeder played the role that Will Smith played in Independence Day, do you really think it would have been a hit? I don’t think so. It probably would have had a cult following because it was so cheesy, but it would not have had such incredible success.
My timing for watching Independence Day was also interesting considering the movie Skyline just came out. The ad for Skyline angered me, as it looked like the exact same concept as Independence Day. You can call me mean if you want, but I don’t like idea thieves. Therefore, I hope Skyline fails miserably and gets people to say that Independence Day was much better. Maybe this chain of events will even spawn a sequel to Independence Day.
I loved the Iron Man movies! I stumbled upon this Iron Baby video on YouTube – I swear I am always amazed by the creativity and talent of some people! This video is awesome!
One of the new releases at Redbox is the thriller called, “Shutter Island.” It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, one of my favorite actors. So I went to the local Walgreens and rented it this afternoon.
I like renting a new release for just one dollar. You can’t beat the price and honestly, why would you need to keep it longer than 24 hours? Sometimes I can watch the rental that night and watch it again the next morning, but I can always get the movie returned by 9:00 the next night. No problem.
Shutter Island is really hard to follow as a casual viewer. You have to watch it closely and pay attention to all the clues. I was just starting to get frustrated with the story when they finally wrapped it up. Wow -what a strange movie.
