When I first moved here I watched way too much TV. Like, way more than any normal person should reasonable watch at any given time. I didn’t really have any friends and I got so many exciting new channels from www.expertsatellite.com that I really didn’t have any reason to want to go out – it was like, why would I leave home when my best TV friends are right here? That plus the fact that my job is just ridiculously stressful and I felt like I was always walking into a minefield when I got in in the mornings and by the time I got home I was totally drained…I feel much better about work now though since I got my promotion and talked to my boss and I’m even starting to make friends thanks to all the work happy hours. My next goal is to meet some people I DON’T already work with but I’m taking baby steps, you know? I can’t do it all at once and I’m working on it one thing at a time.

Well my wife has asked me to start decorating the house for Christmas before the weather gets any colder. I don’t mind decorating the house, that happens to be something I really look forward to doing! Every year I go out and buy another yard ornament to fancy up the exterior of the house. It doesn’t take a really long time to do; I don’t climb up onto the roof, but I do trim around it. I like those icicle strings of lights that hang down from the rafters; I think those look really sharp. And I like to wrap strings of lights around the posts of the front porch, too.

I have a few reindeer statues that light up that I like to put in the front yard, and an inflatable snowman. Well, I could go on and on, but then I wouldn’t have time to decorate! So, off I go. I hope you have fun decorating your house too!

One thing that I’ve been doing lately is spending more time on the Internet, reading other people’s blogs. My sister sent me a bunch of links to her favorite blogs to read, and I’ve been reading them. It really is very interesting and fun to see what other people are up to, what they are thinking and writing about. I’ve even left a few comments on some of the blogs that I’ve read here and there. I’ve also found some interesting sites about nature and science and news. I think I could easily spend most of my day on the Internet, just reading and absorbing all of the awesome information that is out there! I find myself clicking on links, clicking on more links, clicking on more links and before long I realize that I can’t even to remember what the first article was that I was reading about! Very entertaining!

My wife always says that the only difference between the men and the boys is the price of their toys. I admit it, I am just a big kid at heart. I have a collection of Classic kids toys like Lincoln Logs a growing collection of remote control toys like the helicopters and automated dogs. I keep telling my wife that they are an investment, but I don’t think she’s fooled even for a minute. She tells me that if they were an investment then they would have never been removed from their boxes! Yeah, but they are an investment in my happiness!

Whenever we go shopping together, she complains that I always wander away so she can’t find me. And then her twenty minute trip to the store turns into an hour or more! I keep telling her that all she has to do is come to the toy aisle, and she will find me checking out the latest in electronic toys! She just needs to build more time into her shopping time budget if I’m going along! And never mind how much money I’m spending on toys; after all, we ARE saving money by car-pooling in to the store!

Several months ago I taped an episode of 30 days and didn’t have time to watch it. Today I ran across it and decided to watch it. It was the episode about a hunter going to live with a family of animal rights activists for 30 days. It was a good show; I was surprised that they withheld the more horrific blood and guts scenes that they COULD have shown. Actually, I was pleased that they withheld the blood and guts parts! It was, as always, a good show.

I have loved Disney World ever since it opened. I was young teenager when it first opened. If I recall correctly my parents took the entire family down to Florida for Christmas vacation first year that it did open. That was my first experience with a large theme amusement park and I thought it was absolutely fantastic.

For that particular vacation I think my parents made a mistake by taking us to Disney World first because they also took us to other places such as Sea World, Cypress Gardens, and Busch Gardens during the same vacation.

I don’t know how it ever became an urban legend that Walt Disney’s body had been frozen using cryogenic equipment and was being stored on one of the Disney properties, but it was something I truly believed was correct! I was quite surprised and to be perfectly honest, but this appointment when I learned earlier today that story was simply an urban legend. Walt Disney was in fact cremated and the first known case of anyone being cryogenically preserved was a couple of months after Walt Disney’s remains were cremated.

To be perfectly honest I was rather disappointed when I learned that was an urban legend. I rather thought it was a romantic notion that the night in some future decade been brought back to life somehow!

I used Orville’s pop corn because that is what was given to me. And I guess the commercials about it popping larger might be true because the corn popped so much that the lid had a hard time staying on the popper. So next time I’ll put it a little bit under the 1/4 cup. The popcorn came out quite good, actually. I think I’ll be using this little gadget quite a bit in the future!

This guest post from Lenny Mcknight

When my mom asked me what she could get us for a wedding present I told her unequivocally to go to www.Direc4u.com and look into getting us a sports package. My husband is huge into basketball and football and we hadn’t been able to afford cable so I knew it was something he could really get behind. I love how willing mom is to cater to our needs and so far it’s been the absolute best wedding present we received! She’s so generous with her time and money and Jared and I are talking about having her over sometime next week for dinner and a movie (on our satellite, of course) to thank her for the great gift. The wedding itself was a blast but we were so tired when it was over we couldn’t wait to get home and crash on the couch where we would watch our favorite shows! It’s been a great way for us to stay grounded as a couple and really reconnect after a long day at the office.

This time of year is when all the pro rodeos start up. There are some really big ones out West and in Canada. In fact, the Calgary Stampede that happens every July is probably the biggest rodeo of all.

I just read about a stampede that happens in Colorado every June. They have everything for roller derby to monster trucks to concerts to roping. I would like to check that out some time. If I had known a month ago I could have planned to go this year, but I just read about it this morning and can’t pull it off that quickly.

Going to keep looking to see if there is a big one on a weekend when I can get away and get a cheap flight to see it. If you know of one toward the end of July or any time in August, please leave me a comment about it, and a link would be helpful. Thanks.
