It isn’t marzipan

I got an email a couple of days ago that had a lot of photos included of tiny baby sculptures.  The email claimed that the sculptures were made of marzipan.  Well, the sculptures were truly remarkable, but I found that they were not of marzipan.  They are porcelain.  Extreme talent, big money!  I wish I had that kind of talent!  The artist’s name is Camille Allen, and she sells her sculptures on the Internet.  I was enjoying looking at her website and was reading about how some of her scultures are one of a kind, but some are reproduced in resin in bulk in China.  I found it interesting that the website explains that the only reason they are made in China is because there are no manufacturers in the USA that are capable of producing them.

I think that is part of the problem with our struggling economy – too many of our industrial jobs have left the country and gone overseas to countries with lax environmental laws and cheap labor.  Well, this post wasn’t going to be preachy about our economy….. but it turned out that way!

The Ocean & A Good Game of Golf

I’ve heard that Myrtle Beach is getting a large amount of people this summer season. Since the major oil company, B.P. has trashed so many of the other beaches, folks are finding that Myrtle Beach has nice clean water and beaches to offer the general public and is welcoming them with open arms.

Summer is almost over and I don’t have any vacation days left for this year, but I would like to look into visiting Myrtle Beach next summer. I have not been there for a good long while and it would be good to see how it has changed since I’ve been there last. I enjoy the ocean and enjoy a good challenging game of golf and Myrtle Beach has both of these qualities.

I was online earlier and found a website http://avistaresort.com that is advertising some nice looking and sounding resorts in Myrtle Beach that I’d love to stay at next year. It is great that the Internet makes find a good Myrtle Beach hotel a much easier task to tackle. I have plenty of time to find the perfect accommodations and will keep you posted on what I discover.

Survivor

I have always enjoyed watching the hit reality show Survivor. I have only missed 3 episodes since the beginning, thanks to my DVR. I just saw a commercial saying that they were switching to Wednesday evening. Survivor has always been on Thursdays, since day one. This will take some adjusting, I’m just glad that I saw the commercial.

In Plain Sight

I saw a story on the TV last week that was addressing the issue of how important it is to have a mailbox that has your information on it that is easy to read, especially at night. It seems that there are a good amount of mailboxes that are preventing the police, ambulance and fire fighters from getting to where they need to be in an emergency situation. This could be a life or death situation that could be prevented if more people made sure that their mail boxes were set up with easily read information.

I know that in the city that I grew up in the city had the street addresses painted on the curbs to help with this type of issue, but I imagine that with all of the budget cut backs most places can’t afford to take on the cost of something like that. So it is up to the individual resident to make sure that they properly display the numbers, and for their own good.

I Miss PacMan

PacManGame

Do you remember playing the PacMan game, years ago? We had an Atari and an early Nintendo game system. We played video games for hours and PacMan was one of my favorite games for years.
