The possibility of getting a Math tutor – for my neice is very high. Last year she missed a lot of school due to illness and she missed a lot of classroom time. Sometimes you just can’t make up all that you missed by reading the textbook and taking tests. There is a definite advantage to having alive teacher available to answer questions and explain the subject thoroughly.
Her mom can help her solve math problems on her homework, but has she learned the subject matter? I don’t know about you, but reading a math textbook is boring, and I even like math.
I’ve heard her say that she hates math and doesn’t see why she needs to learn math. I jumped at the chance to show her how even a housewife needs to understand and use Equivalent Fractions in the kitchen. How are you going to double a cookie dough recipe at Christmas if you can’t make the correct adjustments to the measurements of each ingredient?
