Monk marathon

I know I told you that Burn Notice is my favorite television show, but a close second to that is the television show Monk.  I love how Monk has so many phobias, and yet still manages to solve crimes over and over again.  I think that the show helps people to see that even folks with disabilities can be productive members of society.  And by that I mean more than simply cleaning buildings and doing menial chores.  They can also be brilliant in their own way.

So I was delighted to hear that there is going to be a Monk marathon on television tomorrow!  I plan to watch it as much as I can because I missed a few episodes this past season and hope to catch them during the marathon!

Candlelight service

We went to the Christmas eve candlelight service at the local church last night, it was a very pretty service.  I don’t go to church as often as my wife would like me to go.  I feel guilty about that sometimes, but I work very hard during the week and on my weekend there are a lot of things that need to get done around the house, and a guy just needs to catch a break from time to time!  I like to sleep late on Sunday and then relax and drink my coffee and read the Sunday paper and kick back.  Anyway, as I was saying, we went to the service last night and it was really nice.  When we got home we opened our presents and then went to bed.  It was really a nice time.  Later on in the day today we had a nice turkey dinner.  My wife’s a great cook!   I hope you all had a nice Christmas day too!

The Christmas tree

We went out and bought the Christmas tree from the Lions Club tree sale this year.  I try to buy the tree from the Lions Club every year because my father was very active in the Lions Club, and I feel that by doing that I’m “tipping my hat” to the old man.  It’s a nice size tree, about six feet tall.  It has some nice gaps in it that we can fill with special ornaments.  I don’t like buying a tree that is so full that all of the ornaments are going to just drape over the outside of the tree.  I like to have a lot of spaces for the ornaments to actually hang into the space.

So I brought the tree into the house today and set it up, and put the lights on it.  Now it’s the wife and kids turn to do the rest.  I’m sure they’ll do a great job; they make it beautiful every year!  I get a kick out of seeing all of the old handmade ornaments that the kids made when they were really young.  Makes the tree extra special, seeing those hanging on the tree!

Hello world!

Just started my own blog today.  Not quite sure what I’m going to say in it, just thinking I’m going to be putting in some random thoughts and observations here and there from time to time.  I’m not a specialist of any kind, not a rocket scientist or computer programmer, just an ordinary guy who is trying to make a living and have a little bit of fun from time to time.  I’ll probably be venting and ranting and raving, so stay tuned!
